Technology The BREWTM platform is a standardized execution environment that resides in mobile wireless handsets. Developed by Qualcomm, Incorporated, BREWTM applications are typically written in C or C++, and are supported by a suite of development tools provided by Qualcomm. To assist in application development and testing, program simulation is achieved using a PC based emulator that Qualcomm provides at no charge.The BREWTM Distribution System (BDS) enables developers and their carrier customers to get applications to market and coordinates the billing and payment processes for them. Carriers' BREWTM-based services enable consumers to customize their cell phones by downloading applications over the air from a carrier's application download server.
